You opened Claude and went straight to prompts. Better prompts, longer prompts, prompts copied off someone’s carousel.
The output still comes back generic enough. You rewrite half of it before anyone sees it.

Claude has an order, and prompts come third. Setup first, then the shape of a request. Then the prompts and skills that ride on both.
The order that makes the sheets work
Step 1: Set the account up once
Skipping this is what makes every prompt feel like starting over. Claude opens each chat with no memory of who you are. Or what good looks like to you.
Open your project instructions and give it three things:
- Who you are and who you serve, in plain language
- Two writing samples you would publish as-is
- What it should never do (no em dashes, no hype, no closing summary)
Ten minutes, once. Every chat after that starts from your context instead of a blank page.
Step 2: Learn the shape of one good request
A good prompt is not a longer prompt. It has four jobs, and the sheets call this the DNA:
Role: who Claude is being.Input: the raw material you are handing it.Constraint: what it cannot do.Output: the exact format you want back.
Write one request that does all four and keep it. That single skeleton replaces about thirty saved prompts. Because you refill it for any task instead of hunting for a new one.
Step 3: Add skills and plugins last
This is where cheat sheets earn their place. It only works after 1 and 2.
- Levels: find the rung you are on before you reach for the next one.
- Skills: install the two that match a job already on your calendar this week.
- Plays: run one end to end before you add a second.
Two installed skills beat forty saved ones. The pack carries the levels map, the skills list and the plays. All three read differently once your account knows your voice.
What changes
Same sheets, different result. You stop rewriting Claude’s output and start editing it, which is a much shorter job.
