Your Personal Brand Isn’t for Google Anymore

Your personal brand isn’t for Google anymore.

Read time: 4 minutes

You’ve spent years making your brand look credible on Google.

Clean website.
Polished About page.
SEO blogs nobody reads.

But the people deciding whether to hire you stopped Googling. They’re typing your name or your niche into tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.

The shift nobody optimized for

When a buyer asks ChatGPT “who’s the best person for [your thing],” the model answers from what it can read and cite.

So it recommends someone else. You never see the loss. There’s no analytics tab for “times an AI didn’t mention you.”

You’re not invisible to people. You’re invisible to the machine that people now ask.

That’s a different game. And almost nobody is playing it on purpose yet.

How to make your brand AI-legible this week

Step 1: Publish a position buyers can quote

Pick a question buyers in your niche argue about.
Take a side.
State it in plain text.

Not “5 tips.” A stance, around 800 words, with your name on it.

Put it somewhere crawlable: your WordPress site or a public newsletter issue in Kit. Use a clear H1 that names the question directly.

→ Text is still the format models parse and quote most reliably. Give them a page, not a screenshot.

Step 2: Structure it so the model can quote you

Bury your best line in paragraph nine and it gets skipped.

Open with a one-sentence answer to the question. Then back it with a named framework, a specific number, and a real result.

Run this prompt in Claude or ChatGPT on your draft:

“Read this like a buyer asking you to recommend an expert on [topic]. What would you quote, and what’s missing for you to recommend me by name?”

Then fix the gaps it names. That’s your edit list.

Step 3: Test whether you exist

Open ChatGPT in a fresh session. Ask it the exact question your buyer would ask about your niche.

See if you come up.
See who does.
Note what those names have published that you haven’t.

↳ Repeat monthly. This is your new ranking report.

You’ll know in 60 seconds whether the machine can find you, instead of guessing for another year.
